Berkeley Innovation is a student human-centered design consultancy. With a mission “to connect Berkeley students to collaborative innovation through education, practice, and thought leadership,” the club leads educational events in addition to working on client projects.

At Jacobs Hall, Berkeley Innovation offers a student-taught course, titled The Human-Centered {Design.} DeCal. The course, which requires no prior experience, introduces students to the design industry and key design processes and tools before prompting them to create their own projects. “We try to have students use the human-centered design process to solve challenges that they’re interested in, which I think is super unique,” explains Jess Liu, one of the DeCal’s instructors.
