Calling all first generation and undocumented students!

Are you a creative, hands-on person? Are you interested in a design or technology career? Have you heard talk about laser cutters, 3D printers, and Makerspaces but don’t know where to find them on campus?

We invite you to join us at Jacobs Hall for a special open house designed for you. We will offer hands-on activities to introduce our design and technology resources and show how you can get involved.

The full event schedule is below, subject to some minor adjustments. It’s ok if you can only join for part of the event.

• 12:00pm: Pizza lunch
• 12:30pm: Open house kickoff and overview
• 12:40pm: Building tours and presentations from first gen/undocu student designers
• 2:20pm: Hands-on laser cutting demonstration, with takeaways
• 3:00pm: Makerspace scavenger hunt, with prizes for winners
• 3:30pm: Q&A and next steps for staying in touch

This event is open to all first generation and/or undocumented students. All majors are welcome and no prior experience is expected! Please RSVP through this form. For questions, please contact Esmeralda Lopez Flores, Jacobs Student Supervisor & Outreach Fellow (esme_lopez@berkeley.edu).

We are also seeking student makers and designers who might be interested in sharing your work at this event; if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Amy Dinh, Associate Director of Academic Affairs (amydinh@berkeley.edu).
