Jacobs Institute hiring for tenure-track role

The Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position, at the Assistant Professor level, with an expected start date of July 2018. The position is in the broad intersection of design and emerging technologies. Example focus areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of health and medical devices
  • Design of smart and connected products
  • Novel interaction domains, including autonomous systems, human-robot interaction and AR/VR
  • Smart, resilient infrastructures
  • Bio-inspired design
  • Additive manufacturing technologies and materials
  • Design for manufacturing
  • Research on design methods and frameworks
  • Collective and open innovation methods

Applicants will be hired into a home department within Berkeley’s College of Engineering: Bioengineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences, Industrial Engineering & Operations Research, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully both to their home department and to the activities of the Jacobs Institute.
