With the start of the fall semester just around the corner, we are looking forward to welcoming you back to Jacobs Hall and reuniting with familiar faces and new members of the Jacobs Community. Below you’ll find information about early fall programming—both virtual and in-person. Please note: campus safety guidelines will be enforced for all in-person events.
GBO Campus Resource Fair
Friday, 8/20/21 • 1–4 PM
Jacobs Hall is UC Berkeley’s interdisciplinary hub for learning and making at the intersection of design and technology. Students from all over campus are welcome and encouraged to participate here, regardless of major or experience level. We offer a range of hands-on resources for learning about design, including courses, events, student group support, project funding, student work opportunities, mentorship, and an expansive Makerspace. Drop by our virtual fair booth to learn more about these resources, and upcoming events and programs to look forward to this semester.
This event will be held virtually using the following link. The 1 – 2pm session will be specially focused on to Transfer Admits, while the 2-3pm and 3-4pm sessions will be open to First Years.

Curious to learn more about what the Jacobs Institute has to offer? Join us for a building tour to learn more about our resources and the vibrant, interdisciplinary student community that you can take part of at Jacobs. We are offering drop-in tours several times during the back-to-school period.
Design Opportunities Fair

Whether you’re a designer or just curious, come meet design-related clubs, decals, and organizations at this student-run event! The Design Fair will be hybrid this year with an in-person fair and video presentations for all attending clubs.

Come to this special info session, co-hosted with the Student Support Services & Transfer Student Center, where we will describe how to sign up for available opportunities at Jacobs Hall and the financial aid available for our Makerspace programs.
Jacobs Makerspace Open House

Meet the Makerspace staff and other members of the Jacobs community at our Makerspace open house. We will have equipment demos, raffles, project displays, building tours, and more. All are welcome to see what happens at Jacobs, regardless of major affiliation or experience level!

Campus Makers’ Crawl

Location: The event will begin at the west lobby entrance of Jacobs Hall
If you are interested in joining the vibrant community of makers, designers, and tinkerers at UC Berkeley, then join us on the campus makers’ crawl! We will start at the Jacobs Hall Makerspace and continue to other campus spaces. See the unique resources offered at each location and learn how you can join the campus’s rich ecosystem of hands-on creativity. Bring your curiosity and comfortable walking shoes.
We will be visiting (in order): Jacobs Makerspace, Mechanical Engineering Student Machine Shop, Cory Student Workshop, Supernode, CITRIS Invention Lab, Moffit Makerspace, Berkeley Art Studio, and the College of Environmental Design’s Fabrication Lab.
