As part of Reimagining Mobility, a course focused on prototyping novel transportation experiences, the project team conceptualized Carpt as a product that could help fill gaps in a period of transition from traditional to autonomous vehicle use — for example, when people still own traditional cars, but some areas may allow only autonomous vehicles. Prototyping both the platform’s physical and mechanical elements and an accompanying app, and designing for concerns like security and efficient parking, the team has imagined a system that would allow consumers and businesses to easily move through a rapidly shifting transportation landscape.
