Each semester, the Institute serves more than 1,300 users in its makerspace and more than 1,000 students through its own Design Innovation curriculum and other courses hosted in its flexible teaching spaces. All of these Berkeley students receive hands-on training in the use of a range of equipment available in Jacobs Hall, from simple hand tools, entry-level 3-D printers, and sewing machines to laser cutters and high-end 3D printers.
